Hamlin's Marina on the Penobscot River provides seasonal dockage for our customers. The rental slips just received utility upgrades so that they can handle the electic and water requirements of modern recreational boats up to 40' in length. There are plenty of advantages and amenties available to your family when you keep a slip at Hamlin's. Dana's Restaurant is dockside so you can enjoy lunch or dinner on your boat. Gas and diesel is available upon demand as well as a full service ship store. The marina is home base to the growing PenBay Explorers Cruising Club for boats interested in day trips throughout Penobscot Bay. There is always good company to be had on the docks. Throughout the season, Hamlin's Marina puts on a number of events including the River Rodeo with live music and high-flying wakeboarding and waterski demonstrations. The docks provide the best viewing for the festivities. Dock rental is limited and reserved for customers who purchase boats at Hamlin's Marina, but mooring facilities are available to the general public. We look forward to hosting you at Hamlin's Marina this summer!

Pen Bay Explorers are a group of boaters dedicated to exploring the harbors and islands of Penobscot Bay.  Members are owners and family & friends of owners of 20'-34' power boats who cruise together for added enjoyment and safety.  In 2009, we cruised together to Castine, Belfast, and Butter Island.  Some of the highlights were the Celtic Festival, Dennants Wharf, and looking for shells on Butter Island.  2010 will bring more adventures and hopefully more overnights.  Pen Bay Explorers is family-oriented and departs from Hamlin's Marina.
  • Hamlin's Marina...The site of legendary Norumbega?
Check out this exerpt from Wikipedia about the lost City of Norumbega:

"Norumbega (or Norumbègue, Nurumbega, etc) was a legendary settlement in northeastern North America, inextricably connected with attempts to demonstrate Viking incursions in New England.  Like Cathay, it was a semi-legendary place name used to fill a gap in existing geographical knowledge.

An early reference was that of the French navigator, Jean Allefonsce (1542), who...
  • Degree of Fish Fever
Why should you fish anyway? You will spend endless hours trying to retrieve fish from water that is too deep, shallow or discolored. You'll have moments of disgust and moments of joy. Sometimes you'll wonder what you’re doing wrong; other times you'll wonder what you’re doing right. And after those long tireless hours, some of us will even return those fish to the tannic stained waters of Maine.

I fish a lot. But some...
  • The Fresh and Saltwater Angling Connection
Many freshwater anglers feel that it is a whole different world when it comes to fishing in saltwater.  There is a common belief that you need a 10’ rod, 4oz lead weight, and a chunk of mackerel to go after striped bass and bluefish.  Not so!

For most freshwater anglers, you can use the same setup that you catch smallmouth with for stripers and blues.  If you have a smallmouth rod that is...
  • Big Things Afoot At Hamlin's Marina
Almost five years ago my family opened up shop on the Hampden waterfront as Hamlin's Marina.  In that time we've managed to grow into a thriving marina.  It's truly a wonderful place with colorful people, spectacular scenery, an quite a bit of excitement on any given day.

In the five years since we've opened, we've seen the place grow from a sleepy backwater...
